Electro Beer
I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I’m actually moving forward with doing it… So, this is number one in a series of electronic music producers and bands that are named after beers or name songs after beers.  No. 1: Kölsch Kölsch Prost! Danish electronic music producer Rune Riley over the last couple of years has been working under the pseudonym of Cologne, Germany’s...

February is Craft Beer Overload in San Francisco
Seriously, this month is craft-beer overload with SF Beer Week starting on the 10th and then yesterday Magnolia and 21st Amendment and Social Kitchen kicked off Strong Beer Month. I just found this list of Strong Beers to be featured and there are not enough days in the month of Feb to try all of them… Maybe we should have Strong Beer Year! James Blake James Blake Pair With: Dogfish Head - Bitches Brew Dubstep producer and DJ James Black delivers one of the years’ most spectacular songwriter albums of the year, and it is his debut album. Go figure… Known for dropping big basslines and big pulses in his DJ sets and previously produced material, Blake’s debut hits the nail on the head with what sounds like a Motown record that’s been...

Founded in 1995, Dogfish Head creates some of this country’s most fascinating and adventurous craft beers.  After outgrowing its Rehoboth Brewpub, the company adopted a 104,000sf cannery in Milton, Delaware to house its brewing operations in 2002.  Recent production demands of the growing company required much-needed office, laboratory, and retail space, which offered an opportunity to...

Just north of downtown Seattle is the neighborhood of Greenwood and the location of The Pillagers Pub, home to Baron Brewing and Three Skulls Ale. Schooner Exact Brewing, Seattle, Washington
Inside the Schooner Exact Brewing Company, the scent of yeast permeates the air and large metal fermentation tanks stand guard against the back wall. Kegs upon kegs sit neatly stacked around the entrance of the warehouse. Over in the corner, near one of the sliding garage doors, sits a work-station for creating handmade tap handles. The space is generous for such an intimate brewery. Schooner...

Surf, Music and Australian Craft Beer at Stone &...
Way over in the Land of Oz, about 11 hours north of Sydney, in Byron Bay, the team at Stone & Wood Brewing Company subscribe to a pretty simple philosophy: craft beer, good music and surfing. Back in 2008 the founders of Stone & Wood had been doing the big brewery thing when they decided they needed to change it up a bit: “to brew beer for times like these, beers that the locals, and the...

Drink more local craft-beers... Down with...
I have to agree with Tom Philpott, food and ag blogger for Mother Jones, when commenting on the intense corporatization of beer in his article, Beer Charts of the Day: “Anheuser-Busch, InBev and SABMiller produce 80 percent of the beer consumed here [USA]. That’s four of every five brews. And almost all of them suck!” And then he adds, “What all of this is telling me is...

Fink: Music to drink beer to.
Recorded and mixed by producer Billy Bush ‘Perfect Darkness’ is a smouldering, pulsating, and purposeful book of songs. From its emotion-rousing, self-titled opener, to the darkly cinematic ‘Fear Is Like Fire,’ and the uplifting nostalgia of album closer ‘Berlin Sunrise’, the ‘Perfect Darkness LP’ bristles with tense passion and hypnotic charm. It is in two words, bewitching and addictive. ...

“…sales of premium lagers imported from the US have increased by 150% over the past year as they are rolled out in the UK’s pubs and clubs.” This doesn’t surprise me as most of the beer in the UK is just not that great. A History In Images: The Budweiser Can
While I’m not a huge fan or consumer of Budweiser, you have to admit that the label and the brand is quintessential Americana at its finest.
