Program Your 808

As some of you might know, I’m a huge electronic music fan, label owner, recovering DJ unrepentant trainspotter — and I’m a huge fan of the TR808. I think that the Roland TR808 is quite possibly the best drum machine in the world and this is absolutely fantastic:

This series of four posters, dubbed “Program Your 808” is coming from Birmingham-based graphic designer, Rob Ricketts. The posters don’t just look pretty they’re actually functional. Ricketts’ idea was to detail how some of the most notable drum sequences (Afrika Bambaataa’s “Planet Rock,” Cybotron’s “Clear,” A Guy Called Gerald’s “Voodoo Ray” and “No Way Back” by Adonis) were programmed using the Roland TR-808 Drum Machine. Each sequence has been analyzed and represented as to allow you, the user, to re-program each sequence, key for key. Pretty dope.” More

The Miraculous, Magical, Magnificent History Of Beer [Infographic]

Just stumbled across this on the interwebs.

Beer is in a renaissance. Fueled by small craft manufacturers, brewers are reassessing the confines of classic stouts and IPAs. And with virtually no limitations on what can be added to beer (unlike most wines, which are confined strictly to the artful manipulation of grapes), the sheer variety of what’s on the market is astounding. Beer has become a cuisine unto itself.

But while every modern beer drinker may be a bit of an expert, this entertaining infographic reminds us that we’re all amateurs in comparison to our forefathers. We drink about 22 gallons apiece each year. Our medieval Europeans drank triple that (66 gallons). And the Egyptians who built the pyramids? They guzzled a gallon of beer every single day, or over 300 gallons each year. That’s more than 1,000 40s, but they certainly earned it.

Electro Beer: Deliruim Tremens The Song

No. 2: Deliruim Tremens

So, this is number two in a series of electronic music producers and/or bands that are named after beers or name songs after beers.

This one is from Neon Jung..  ”peering upwards towards sweet soul melodies and shimmering pads then plunging down to some punishing low-end frequencies. The growing influence of authentic electro has already been well-documented, and Neon Jung makes great use of it here, slowing down the archetypal rhythm until it mutates into a a stepping bass monster.”
